This August, relive the summer of 1963… innocent 17-year-old Baby vacations with her parents at a Catskill’s resort.
One evening she is drawn to the staff quarters by stirring music. There she meets Johnny, mysterious yet sexy hotel dance instructor, who is experienced as Baby is naive.
Baby soon becomes Johnny’s pupil in dance and love. Can you believe it has been 30 YEARS?? Coming up in three weeks from August 18 and 19 at Morse Park Meadows Lake Lure, North Carolina is the 8th Annual Dirty Dancing Festival.
Come out to join other fans August 18-19th to enjoy the timeless cult-classic movie Dirty Dancing and relive memories of Baby’s (Jennifer Grey) first dance at the film’s original, breathtaking backdrop of Lake Lure.
The festival is also celebrating the 30th anniversary of the film and commemorating Patrick Swayze’s 65th birthday. The festival will have many special guests, activities, free lakeside screening of the original movie at Morse Park Meadows on Friday.
Dirty Dancing film was named the #1 Most-Watched Film by Women by BBC News. The film has been a timeless classic impacting pop culture. Lake Lure is nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. Lake Lure sits in the Hickory Nut Gorge, surrounded by lush mountain tops and beautiful granite cliffs.
The festival has two nights of planned activities starting Friday night, gates open at 8pm for the free Dirty Dancing Festival Lakeside Film screening at Morse Park Meadows. Saturday from 8:45am to 5pm is a full day of fun with dance performances, live soul and beach bands, cider and wine garden, dance lessons, beer, food and craft vendors, games for all ages, and of course the Lake Lift Competition at 4:30pm.
Later that night come out and enjoy the Dirty Dancing After Party lakeside at Rumbling Bald Resort that will have a beach cookout, dancing and feature a 10-piece brass band. The After party is free and runs from 6-11pm.
Take part of the 8th Annual festivities at Lake Lure there are still limited tickets left to attend the event. If you buy a ticket before August 17th its only $20 for adults age 13 and over and after the 17th its $25 at the door if any tickets remain. The festival benefits the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network to help find a cure, as a tribute to the film’s late star Patrick Swayze who played mysterious yet sexy hotel dance instructor Johnny.
